To Start Out

I wanted to start this blog for a few reasons.
I love writing. Ever since I can remember, my teachers would have us choose a picture and write a story about it, or they would give us a sentence and have us write a story around that. I have always loved writing. So a big thank you is in order for Mrs. Kolbay and Mrs. Salopek for instilling that love of writing in me at a young age.
In high school, my writing was always my strong suit; however, if it weren’t for Miss J. Britton, my writing would not be as structured or eloquent as it is now. Miss Britton put my writing through boot camp and it barely survived. I loathed how she ripped my writing apart while I was in school, but looking back on it, I see how much my writing has improved because of her and I am so grateful.
I feel like I have so many thoughts that deserve to be in a blog. My writing deserves to be read, critiqued, saved, bookmarked, highlighted, underlined, loved, and hated.
I feel that I have valuable life experiences to share, and if my writing changes or inspires or helps one person, it is worth it.
So, welcome to my blog. Welcome to the inner-workings of my brain, I hope you understand my sarcasm.
What does “Facing the Immensity” mean, you might ask? It comes from One Tree Hill, when a character is afraid of the ocean because of the immensity. I guess that is a great metaphor for my writing- I have so much in my brain and feel so vulnerable letting the world read it, so I’m “facing the immensity, I guess”.
This makes my day!! Alison, I am grateful for the time I had with you as a student and also your many visits to my classroom after. You are a giver and a delight. Miss you, but now I feel that I will be connected with and enjoy you through this blog. God Bless you and ALL your endeavors!! Love you!!!
Ah, yes! I am so glad you are doing this. Huzzah for putting yourself out there!
